Whether you’re looking for a sporty hike or a more leisurely approach, Thuringia is a destination for every hiker. More than 8,600 km of hiking trails crisscross the Free State. The Bach to Goethe hiking trail, which starts at the market square in Arnstadt and leads to Ilmenau, passes right by the hotel. Follow in the footsteps of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Johann Sebastian Bach for a good 20 km. You can return on the South Thuringia Railway, which stops just a few minutes’ walk from Arnstadt South station.
