The hiking trail “From Bach to Goethe” connects the Bach city Arnstadt with the Goethe and university city Ilmenau. On natural paths, this route leads through a varied mountain and hilly landscape, which is characterized by old beech- and mixed forests.The route runs over the picturesque Reinsberge mountains, through two recognized nature reserves and one of Germany’s largest stocks of yews. The viewpoints along the route offer magnificent panoramas into the valley of the ‘Wilde Gera’, to the mountain ranges of the Thuringian Forest up to Ilmenau’s local mountain, the Kickelhahn.
